Glendevon moths

Postby DonMatthews » Wed 30 Mar 2016 11:13

Took the campervan to Glendevon in poorly-recorded NN90 last night for a first away-from-home mothing foray for 2016. Only two moths, a late-ish Dotted Border and what looks to me like a Mottled Grey but that was two better than I had expected on a frosty night.

Yes, quite right. Both new to the 10k square :-)

Didn't manage to fit in my April visit to Glendevon until the last day of the month. 11 moths of 3 species, which is a lot better than the empty trap that I had at home on the previous night! 7 Hebrew Character, 1 Common Quaker and 3 Clouded Drab. I recorded Hebrew Character there last year but Common Quaker and Clouded Drab might be new records for the square.

Last night's visit to NN90, Glendevon only yielded 5 moths but they included my first Scalloped Hazel and my first Shears and Common White Wave for 2016.
