Great to hear that you saw so many butterflies yesterday George.
I was out in the morning near Whittinghame and saw Speckled Woods, Red Admirals and Small Whites.
A colleague came into the office after lunch and reported a Green-veined White and I told him that I thought his would be the last record of the year.
Then I heard from Abbie. She had seen plenty of Red Admirals and Speckled Woods, a Peacock, a Small Tortoiseshell and a Green-veined White! She also saw eight Small Coppers.
So, that was 8 species reported yesterday. We have a couple of days of heavy showers to contend with, but the weather doesn't look too bad after that, so hopefully we will get a few more late records.

Hi Nick , They seem to have responded quickly to yesterday's sun.
When I got home Chrissy had seen a red admiral and peacock in the garden and a speckled wood in the conservatory !

Seven species at Torness on Monday.
This lot plus 4 Red Admirals and 1 Speckled Wood.
Particularly chuffed with such a mint Comma so late in season when others were mostly worn/pale

Wow! I thought I did well yesterday with 6 Speckled Woods, 6 Red Admirals, 4 Small Whites and 2 Commas yesterday in Haddington. Your Painted Lady and Small Copper in particular are late records.
