1 Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary this afternoon by Red Moss, near Balerno.
It was nectaring on Self-heal at the roadside just north of the entrance to the carpark. Approx NT166641.

A walk through Holyrood park today. Glorious sunshine did not spot any northern brown argus but at least a dozen small heaths and minimum 10 small coppers plus several stunning cinnabar moths and the odd beastie such as scorpion flies.

A good wander round Holyrood Park today. Butterflies few and far between despite nice weather. About 7 small copper, 3 small heath and a speckled wood. Where do the northern brown argus hang out?

In fact, I think you will find that your image is of a Snipe Fly. Scorpion flies have totally different mouthparts and different markings along the side of their abdomen.
