Great to see that Green Hairstreaks are doing well at the Edinburgh sites. And good to see loads of pictures of Orange Tips. I must try to put some pictures on the East Lothian post!!

After a trip to the Newhailes estate yesterday I cycled back up the Brunstane Burn path. First sighting was a speckled wood disturbed on the path and heading off in to a field. After that it became orange tip heaven. Estimated 8 male and 2 female orange tips in the short stretch to the Donkeyfield orchard all intent on mating as far as I could see. At one point 4 males were pursuing/harassing an unfortunate female for several minutes before 3 seemed to give up.
An afternoon visit to Bawsinch produced yet more orange tips (at least 6 male, 1 female) plus a solitary comma.
