Edinburgh sightings April 2018

4 miles of walking round Holyrood park then Bawsinch finally yielded a solitary peacock and more pleasingly a single comma, both in Bawsinch. 1st sightings for me this year! Comma uncooperative photo wise but flew around my head 3 times so 100% on ID.

Another peacock...this time in my willowbrae garden (pictured)! Also peacock at Bawsinch again but no sign of yesterdays comma though there was a reliable report of a comma on north side of duddingston loch this morning. Settled for photographing some interesting beasties instead.

Walk round the Botanics today after the BC East AGM produced a very cooperative comma. Despite spending another hour or two there could not find any other butterflies though there were plenty of bees, hoverflies, wasps and even a beefly or two

I didnt even realise you were at the AGM Richard. I'm sorry not to have met you. My head is very often up my backside at these types of events. Your Comma photo is absolutely superb....I'm sorry I missed that as well...what the hell was I doing on Saturday. :D

I think that name badges would be useful for future events such as this. It is always good to put faces to names.

Bawsinch today - orange tips at last! Circa 1 or 2 weeks later than recent years. At least 2 males (they did a bit of dogfighting) plus 4 peacocks.
