Postby NickMorgan » Sun 02 Apr 2017 18:01

Plenty of Small Tortoiseshells and Peacocks being seen all over this weekend.
At last another Red Admiral has been seen by Abbie on the River Tyne near Hailes.
Also the first identified white - a Green-veined White reported by Abbie in her garden this afternoon. :)

2 Peacocks along the River path between Hailes and East Linton on Saturday the 1st afternoon.

4 Peacocks around Danskine Loch on Sunday morning despite the cold.

On Sunday I saw another 4 Peacocks just off the Johnnie Cope Road path up the Garleton Hills and a fly by white. Most likely a GV.

Just back in from my lunchtime walk along the Tyne. No butterflies on the way out and on the way back I saw two Magpies on the path in front of me. I thought to myself, "Two for joy, I wonder if I'll see a white butterfly?" and exactly then a Green-veined White flew up the river bank past me!! The a little further downstream a Small Tortoiseshell.

A report from Abbie of four Speckled Woods near Aberlady. Further along the coast she saw plenty of Peacocks, some Orange Tips and a Large White.

I have seen two Small Tortoiseshells flying through my garden and a Small White today.

It is turning out to be a great year so far!

Also on Tyne, path north from 'concrete bridge' at Westfield, min 1 Speckled Wood , min 1 Male Orange Tip and 1 Peacock.
This was also a new site for Dark Edged Bee Fly.
Could have been 4 or 5 Orange Tips.
