Edinburgh Sightings August 2015

Leisurely walk at Holyrood starting at the gate at the end of Ulster crescent on the east side of Arthurs Seat. GV white by the entrance then several meadow browns, a ragged ringlet plus burnets flying about on the eastern slopes, wee surprise of a tiny small heath further up the slopes then followed the road round in direction of the Commie. Only meadow browns seen until an equally tiny small copper was spotted on the grass opposite the path down to the innocent railway path. Thanks to my partner Linsey for spotting both small heath and small copper, I would have missed them. Returning via the woods along the eastern boundary (after a pit stop in the Sheep Heid..) to the ulster crescent gate, 2 more GV whites and a common blue spotted. Weather was mostly sunny if breezy, good to see six species but fairly small numbers. A brief stop at Bawsinch (rain stopped play) produced only a few meadow browns but also lovely dragonfly and a couple of blue damselflies.

Peacock and comma in garden this afternoon in Liberton - amazing what a bit of sun does!

Just read the title of the thread - only out by a week!
